2001 All-Northeast Region Women's Soccer Team Announced

BLOOMSBURG Four members of the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team have been named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Regional Team. Alea Balthaser (Hamburg/Hamburg) and Renee Williams (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West) were named to the first team, while Heather Hartman (Pleasanton, CA/Amador Valley) and Danielle Brunetti (Philadelphia/Nazareth Academy) made the second team. First team selections move on to the national ballot for All-American Honors.

The four helped the Huskies to a record of 15-4-1, 9-2 in the PSAC. They also led the Huskies to an NCAA playoff berth.

This is Balthaser's third All-Northeast Region first team selection. The senior forward led the team with a career-high 19 goals and 45 points. She is second with seven assists, while playing in all of the team's 20 games. Balthaser has recorded four hat tricks on the year, including a hat trick in three consecutive games. She also has two, two-goal games on the season.

Balthaser is a four-time selection to the All-PSAC first team. She was named the PSAC Athlete of the Year in 2000 and 1998 and was also named the 1998 PSAC Rookie of the Year. In her career, Balthaser is the All-Time Bloomsburg leader in goals (60), assists (35) and points (155).

Williams, a junior forward, teamed with Balthaser to account for 59 percent of the team's goals this season. She had 13 goals and a team-high 11 assists for a total of 37 points. For her career, Williams has 38 goals and 27 assists for a total of 103 points. Williams was a second- team All-PSAC selection this season.

Hartman, a freshman goaltender, had an excellent rookie campaign for the Huskies. She played in 19 games and had a record of 15-3-1. Hartman made 103 saves, while allowing just 13 goals on the year en route to a Bloomsburg record 12 shutouts in a single season. She has a 0.64 goals against average and an .888 save percentage. Hartman was also a second-team All-PSAC selection this season.

Brunetti, a senior back, is a big reason Bloomsburg has allowed only 14 goals this year. She provides solid defense and strong senior leadership. Brunetti was named to the All-PSAC second-team this season and was a first team All-Northeast Region selection a year ago.
