The Huskies, 13-5-3, come into the contest following their recent Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship last weekend. Bloomsburg outlasted Millersville University, winning on penalty kicks after playing to a 1-1 two-overtime tie. Leading the way for the Huskies this season has been Renee Williams (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West) who has 12 and four assist on the year. Becky Ritter (Philipsburg/Philipsburg-Osceola) has made her presence felt this year contributing nine goals and one assist for the Huskies. Rebecca Stametz (Shamokin/Central Columbia) has registered six goals leading the Huskies into the playoffs.
Heather Hartman (Pleasonton,CA/Amador Valley) has been solid in goal for the Huskies this season. She has come up with 149 saves claiming eight shutouts on the year with a saves percentage of .898. Hartman was recently named PSAC player of the week for her performances the week of November 5th. Hartman received the most valuable player honor for her performance in the overtime period against Millersville.
The two teams met previously this season on September 21 with Adelphi winning 3-0. The Panthers,15-1-2 on the year, are led in scoring this season by Josephine Coiro with 18 goals and five assists. Coiro had a hat-trick against the Huskies earlier this year in the Panthers' 3-0 win. Adelphi goalie Andrea Fasano has been a key player on the field this year as well. She came up with eight saves against Bloomsburg earlier in the year claiming the shutout. Fasano has a goals against average of .916 for the year.
The Huskies return to the playoffs this week with their best finish coming in 2000 as they advanced to the quarterfinal round. The winner of the game will travel to play the number one seed Lock Haven University on Saturday.
