Bloomsburg Women's Soccer Team Ranked 20th in Preseason

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team is ranked 20th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II poll.

The Huskies are coming off a 15-4-1 season in which they reached the finals of the PSAC playoffs and also made a third straight NCAA playoff appearance.

Leading the way for the 2002 team will be two seniors, Renee Williams (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West) and Becky Stametz (Shamokin/Southern Columbia). Williams was second on the team in 2001 with 13 goals while leading the team in assists with 13. Stametz came on strong last season and finished with eight goals and two assists.

Sophomore Heather Hartman (Pleasanton, CA/Amador Valley) returns in goal for Bloomsburg after establishing a new team record last year with 12 shutouts.

The Huskies open their season Saturday, Sept. 7th at Southampton University of Long Island at 2 p.m. before opening at home Monday, Sept. 9th with Holy Family at 4 p.m.
