Bloomsburg Women's Soccer Downs Shippensburg in PSAC PlayoffsBLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team advanced to the finals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs Tuesday with a 2-1 win. The Huskies will face Millersville University o Saturday after the Marauders upset number one seed Lock Haven, 2-1. The Lady Raiders got on the board first when Steph Ritchie scored off a rebound of a free kick to the home team a 1-0 lead 34:48 into the game. The Huskies Renee Williams (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West) then tied the score five minutes when she scored on a free kick. It was the 12th goal of the year for the senior. The teams remained deadlocked until 13 minutes into the second half when Becky Ritter (Philipsburg/Philipsburg-Osceola) scored after taking a crossing pass from Williams. From there the Bloomsburg defense took over and did not allow Shippensburg to attempt a shot in the second half. The closest Shippensburg came to scoring was with five minutes left when it had a breakaway. However, the Huskies defense knocked the ball away before a shot could be taken. In all the Lady Raiders attempted just three shots, only one on goal. The Huskies, now 12-5-3, will face Millersville for the PSAC title on Saturday at 1 p.m. GAME STATS
