Huskies Fall to Kutztown in PSAC Semifinals

KUTZTOWN —The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team ended its season with a 4-3 loss to Kutztown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference semifinal game.

The Huskies took the early 1-0 lead as Kelly Salvaterra (Macungie/Emmaus) scored on a Jen Fico (Monroe, CT/Masuk) assist less than six minutes into the game. After two Kutztown goals put the Golden Bears on top, Fico scored an unassisted goal to tie the game. Kutztown answered as Chrissy Jack put the Golden Bears on top 3-2 off an assist from Kim Kelty. The Huskies responded as Lindsay Knupp (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) scored with 3:26 remaining in the first half to tie the game at 3-3.

In the second half, Kutztown's Julie Folsom scored what turned out to be the game-winner on an assist from Kelty, midway through the second half. The Huskies could only manage three, second half shots, allowing Kutztown to escape with the victory.

In goal, Robin Gerber stopped two shots for the Huskies..

Bloomsburg finishes its season with a 9-9-2 overall mark.
