Bloomsburg Women's Soccer Team Beats West Chester

BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University defeated West Chester 3-1, to make the Huskies record 5-7 overall and 4-4 in conference play for the year.

Amanda McLaughlin (Andover, NJ/North Warren) scored the only goal of the first half to give Bloom a 1-0 lead at the break, Christine Mongelli (South River, NJ/South River) picked up the assist.

The Huskies added to their lead early in the second period on a goal by Lauren Hess (East Greenville/Upper Perkiomen), Lindsay Knupp (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) was in on the assist.

West Chester tried to rally late on a goal by Julie Karcher to cut the lead to 2-1 with 9:38 left in the game, Robin Niles picked up the assist. However, Bloomsburg stopped the rally quickly by scoring a goal 33 seconds later; Nicole Yerkes (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) picked up the goal and was assisted by Kelly Salvaterra (Macungie/Emmaus).

The Huskies will host both Mansfield, Tuesday October 12th and then Philadelphia Saturday October 16th.
