Bloomsburg Women's Soccer Downs C.W. Post

BLOOMSBURG- A goal by freshman Kelly Modes (Langhorne/ Neshaminy) late in the second half proved to be the difference as the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team beat C.W. Post 3-2 on Saturday.

In the first half, C.W. Post got on the board first with a goal from Lauren Kelly 14 minutes into the game. However, Bloomsburg answered back as Suzie Wade (Watsontown/ Warrior Run) put one into the net on an assist by Aimee Bono (Nanticoke/ Nanticoke Area) 13 minutes later to tie it at one.

In the second half, Sarah Fick (Hamburg/ Fleetwood Area) gave the Huskies a 2-1 lead as she scored a goal off an assist from Alex Totino (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Sachem North) in the 54th minute. Modes then gave the Huskies a 3-1 lead as she put the ball top self into the back of the net with 14 minutes remaining in the game.

C.W. Post tried to rally back when Melissa Pascarella capitalized on a loose ball in the Huskies defensive zone and scored with 10 minutes left in the game. However, the Bloomsburg defense held on to capture the 3-2 win.

For the game, the Huskies out shot the Pioneers 10-7 and Bloomsburg goalie Robin Gerber (Succasunna, NJ/ Roxbury) had five saves in the second half.

With the win the Huskies improve to 3-1-1 and will travel to Lock Haven on Monday for a 4 p.m. game.
