Huskies Women's Soccer Drops Opener to IUP

INDIANA, PA -- The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team dropped their 2006 season opener to Indiana (PA) by a score of 5-1.

The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead twenty-four minutes into the game on a goal by Christine Mongelli (South River, NJ/South River). However, Brittany Pikur scored for IUP four minutes later to knot the score at 1-1. The teams played scoreless soccer to close out the first half of play.

In the second half, the Indians pulled away scoring four unanswered goals and defeating the Huskies 5-1.

Becky Dillard and April Hunsberger split time in goal for IUP with four and two saves respectively.

Brittany Moses (East Greenville/Upper Perkiomen) handled goalkeeping duties for Bloomsburg, recording nine saves.

The Huskies takes on East Stroudsburg on Wednesday at 5:30 in their home and PSAC East opener.
