Bloomsburg Women's Soccer Beats Millersville

BLOOMSBURG--Freshman Aimee Bono (Nanticoke/Nanticoke Area) had two goals to
lead the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team to a 4-2 victory Monday over Millersville. The victory improves Bloomsburg's record to 4-4-1 on the year, 3-2-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
In the first half, Millersville got on the board quickly when Courtney Rudgeair scored a 1:17 into the contest. The Huskies got on the board 14 minutes later when Lauren Hess (East Greenville/Upper Perkiomen) scored off a deflection from the Millersville goalkeeper. The Huskies took the lead 5:58 later when Kelly Modes (Langhorne/Neshaminy) scored off an assist credited to both Eileen Alexander (East Northport, NY/Commack) and Ashley Brucker (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren). Bloomsburg rounded out the scoring in the first half when Bono scored her first goal of the game at the 41 minute mark to extend the Bloomsburg lead to 3-1. Modes picked up an assist on Bono's goal.
In the second half, Bloomsburg continued to control the contest, until Millersville's Rebecca Dickinson scored with a little over seven minutes left in the game. The Huskies then put the game out of Millersville's reach when Bono picked up her second goal with 59 seconds left in regulation. Katie Armitage (Saylorsburg/Stroudsburg) picked up an assist on Bono's second goal.
Bloomsburg out shot Millersville by an astounding 23-3 margin in the contest and also had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks over the Marauders.
The Huskies return to action on Thursday when they visit Slippery Rock at 4:00 p.m.
