Bloomsburg Women's Soccer Drops Mansfield

BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University Women's Soccer team defeated Mansfield 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Sports Stadium.

Jessica Bender's (Macungie/Emmaus) goal at 44:53 proved to be the game winner for the Huskies, as Bender, off a timely pass from Jen Mclean (Birdsboro/Daniel Boone), was able to slip the ball past Mansfield goaltender Justine Seagar just before the half. Ten minutes into the second period, Kristine Preski (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) took a Katie Armitage (Saylorsburg/Stroudsburg) pass and beat Seagar for the second Husky goal of the game.

Brittany Moses (East Greenville/Upper Perkiomen) pitched a shutout in goal for the Huskies, stopping the only shot she faced. For the day, Bloomsburg held the edge in shots, 10 to Mansfield's four, as well as shots on goal, where Bloomsburg held a 6-1 advantage.

Bloomsburg returns to action Tuesday at 5 p.m. when they take on Kutztown at Sports Stadium.
