Bloomsburg Defeats Shippensburg in Women's Soccer

BLOOMSBURG — The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team defeated Shippensburg University 1-0 on Wednesday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game.

After both teams went scoreless in the first half, Bloomsburg opened the second half and finally got on the scoreboard as Ashley Brucker (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren) scored off a corner kick by Kelly Modes (Langhorne/Neshaminy) to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

From there, the Huskies hung on after surviving a late Shippensburg rally. Goalie Robin Gerber (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) preserved the shutout victory with two saves.

With the win, Bloomsburg moves to 3-2 overall, 2-1 in the PSAC. The Huskies return to action at Lock Haven on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
