BLOOMSBURG- Four Bloomsburg University women's soccer players have been selected to the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Adidas NCAA Division II Women All-Atlantic Region team.

Junior Kelly Modes (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) and sophomore Kristine Preski (Philadelphia, PA/Owen J. Roberts) were both selected to the first team, while seniors Ashley Brucker (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren) and Lauren Hess (East Greenville/Upper Perkiomen) were named to the second and third teams, respectively.

Modes, a midfielder, was named first team All-PSAC East for the third time in her career. She is second in scoring for the Huskies this season, with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. She finished her Bloomsburg season with 14 goals and seven assists.

"Kelly was our most consistent player this past fall. She has the ability to hurt teams in several ways, and is very dynamic," said Huskies head coach Sandy Dickson. "She was able to come up big for us when we needed her, and that is a tremendous quality. Kelly has matured into an incredible leader for us"

Preski was selected first team All-PSAC for the second time in 2008. She is a part of a defense that only allowed 19 goals this season. Preski was fourth in scoring for the Huskies with four goals and two assists. She has 13 career points, with five goals and three assists.

"Kristine opened up her game as a sophomore." said Dickson. "She scored some huge goals for us and was very solid from her right back position. She showed a relentless fight on the field for us this past fall, and was a huge reason for our success."

Brucker, a forward, was the leading scorer for the Huskies this season with nine goals for 18 points. Brucker is 12th in the conference for scoring, with a 0.50 scoring average. For her career, she has 17 goals and five assists for 39 career points.

"Ashley deserves this honor, and surely has earned the respect of the coaches in the region by being selected to the All-Region team," said Dickson. "She has been a captain that the younger players will try to emulate in the future. She is an unbelievable captain, teammate, and all-around class person. She ran through brick walls for her team this past fall, and carried them on her back at times."

Hess, a forward, finished the 2008 season with four goals and one assist for nine points. She finished her Bloomsburg career with 12 goals, four assists and 28 points.

"Lauren was tremendous in the middle for us." said Dickson. "Her ability to physically dominate, win air balls, and drive to the goal was a huge part of our success this year. She never backs down from the physical play and was able to score some really big goals for us this year and create them from her work in the middle."

Bloomsburg finished the 2008 season with a record of 13-6-1.
