Several Huskies Garner Postseason Honors

BLOOMSBURG—Four members of the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team were awarded postseason honors by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

Freshman Renee Williams (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West) was named the PSAC Rookie of the year after scoring 13 goals in her inaugural campaign. She added five assists and recorded three multiple games, including two, three-goal games. Williams is the second consecutive Bloomsburg player to be named Rookie of the Year after Alea Balthaser(Hamburg/Hamburg) won the award following the 1998 season.

Three Bloomsburg players were named to the All-PSAC first team, including junior Christine Krebs (South Hero, VT/South Hero), Balthaser and sophomore Liz Donelly (West Chester/Henderson).

Krebs led the Huskies in scoring with 22 goals, including six multiple games. She recorded a career-high four goals in an 8-0 victory over California (PA) and was second on the squad in assists with six. Krebs was a 1998 All-PSAC second team selection and is the Huskies all-time leader in goals with 39.

Balthaser, a sophomore, was the second leading scorer with 18 goals and had a team-high 12 assists. She had five multiple games and a streak of six games with at least one goal. Balthaser was the 1998 PSAC Athlete and Rookie of the Year and was a first team selection.

Donelly helped anchor a Bloomsburg defense that allowed only 23 goals this season and posted eight shutouts. She has started for the defense in each of her two seasons and was a first team selection in 1998.

The Huskies finished the season with a 15-6 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the PSAC. Bloomsburg was eliminated from the PSAC playoffs by West Chester after capturing the conference title in 1998.
