Bloomsburg Women's Swimming Team Defeat Kutztown: Men Tie Golden Bears

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team defeated Kutztown University, 109-91, Wednesday evening. The men's teams battled to a 102-102 stalemate.

Freshman Kari Pokrzwya (Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) and senior Ashley Jones (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) led the women's team with three first place finishes apiece. Jones took first in the 50-free in 25.34 and the 100-free in 54.31 while Pokrzwya won the 400 IM in 4:53.04 and the 200-back in 2:14.56. Jones and Pokrzwya also joined forces with Erin Carey (West Chester/Henderson) and Becky Witwer (Harrisburg/Susquehanna Twp.) to win the 400-medley relay in 4:06.75. Holly Hicks (Medford, NJ/Holy Cross) and Jodi Kaiser (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) had a first place finish each for the Huskies, winning the 1000-free in 11:16.17 and the 500-free in 5:28.12, respectively.

For the men, Brandon Hilt (Mount Joy/Hempfield), Jason Davis (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) and Steve Fisher (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) each swam to two first place finishes. Hilt won the 200-back in 1:59.25, Davis took the 200-breast with a time of 2:14.95, Fisher won the 50-free in 21.99 and all three men combined with Tom DiSalvatore (Thornton/West Chester East) to win the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:41.66.

The Huskies return to action Saturday afternoon as they host West Chester at 1 p.m. in the Nelson Fieldhouse pool.
