Bloomsburg Swimming Teams Fall at Ithaca

ITHACA, NY —The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams both dropped matches on Saturday to Ithaca College in a dual meet held at the Ithaca Natatorium. The men's team lost 126-79, while the women fell 119-86.

For the men, Brandon Hilt (Mount Joy/Hempfield) was first in the 200 backstroke in 1:59.59, while Tom DiSalvatore (Thornton/West Chester East) took home top honors in the 200 butterfly in 2:06.53.

Finishing second in two events was Jason Davis (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) who was runner-up in both the 200 breast in 2:16.99 and the 200 IM in 2:05.97 with Steve Fisher (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) second in 50 free in 21.80.

In one of the relays, Hilt, Davis, DiSalvatore and Fisher teamed to win the 400 medley in 3:37.97.

In the women's meet, Ashley Jones (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) took first in the 1000 free in 11:03.27 and finished second in the 100 free in 54.16. Also picking up a first place finish was Erin Carey (West Chester/Henderson) who was the top finisher in the 200 IM in 2:14.95.

Kari Pokrzywa (Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) was second in two events, the 200 butterfly in 2:19.94 and the 200 back in 2:12.73. Jodi Kaiser (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) was second in 500 free in 5:23.14, while Lindsay Wallace (Frenchville/Clearfield) was second in the 50 free in 25.49.

In the 400 free relay, Carey, Wallace, Janelle Hose (Sacremento, CA/C.K. McClatchy) and Erin Garvey (Scranton/Scranton) took first in a time of 3:43.34.
