Bloomsburg Women Swimmers Fall to New Jersey

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team was defeated by the College of New Jersey, 133-129, Thursday evening.

Becky Witwer (Harrisburg/Susquehanna Twp) and Kari Pokrzwya (Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) led the Huskies with two first place finishes apiece, while Witwer added a second place finish as well. Witwer took first in the 100-breast in 1:09.80 and the 200-breast in 2:30.08, and she took second in the 200-IM in 2:16.03. Pokrzwya won the 100-back and the 200-back in times of 1:01.99 and 2:14.54, respectively.

Ashley Jones (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) also swam well for the Huskies, taking second place in the 50-free, 100-free and the 200-free. Jones finished the 50-free in 25.61, the 100-free in 55.45 and the 200-free in 1:56.30. Jodi Kaiser (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) took first in the 1000-free in a time of 11:04.17 and second in the 500-free in 5:30.49, while Erin Carey (West Chester/Henderson) added two second place finishes in the 100-breast and the 200-breast in 1:12.58 and 2:34.80, respectively.

Bloomsburg will participate in the PSAC Championships at West Chester from February 20-22.
