BU Women's Swim Team Beats East StroudsburgEAST STROUDSBURG—Swimming for the second consecutive day, the Bloomsburg University women's swim team recorded seven individual first place finishes on its way to a 152-110 win over East Stroudsburg University Saturday afternoon. The Huskies also took first place in one relay event during the meet. Bloomsburg had three swimmers, Jodi Kaiser (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional), Ashley Jones (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) and Becky Witwer (Harrisburg/Susquehanna Twp), get first place in two events each to lead the way. Kaiser was first in the 500 free in 5:34.23 and the 1,000 free in 11:12.06. Jones was first in the 100 free in 54.89 and the 200 free in 2:00.11. Witwer swept the 100 breast and the 200 breaststroke events in times of 1:10.86 and 2:32.61 respectively. In addition, freshman Erin Carey (West Chester/Henderson) was first in the 100 fly in 1:03.35. As a team, Bloomsburg took first in the 400 free relay with the team of Kaiser, Witwer, Lindsay Wallace and Becky Kadingo (Orwigsburg/Nativity BVM) coming home in a time of 3:56.00. Bloomsburg is at IUP next Saturday starting at 1 p.m. in a men's and women's meet. |
