Huskies Swim Teams Compete at Bucknell
BLOOMSBURGThe Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim team took part in the Bucknell Sprint Invitational on Saturday.
Swimming well for the women were Ashley Yelinek (Youngwood/Southmoreland) and Erin Carey (West Chester/Henderson). Yelinek finished 9th in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.95 and 16th in the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 57.03, while Carey finished 7th in the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:03.32 and 11th in the 50 yard breast stroke with a time of 33.10. Also swimming well for the women were Becky Witwer (Harrisburg/Susquehanna Township) and Lindsay Wallace (Frenchville/Clearfield). Witwer finished 11th in the 50 yard breast stroke with a time of 33.51 and 19th in the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:05.01, while Wallace finished 8th in the 100 yard freestyle.
On the men's side, Bret Palmer (Marysville/Susquenita) and Brandon Hilt (Mt. Joy/Hempfield) had solid meets. Palmer finished 10th in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 24.74, while Hilt finished 3rd in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.70. Also swimming well were Jason Davis (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) and Chris Rumfelt (Shamokin/Shamokin Area). Davis finished 9th in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 28.99, while Rumfelt finished 8th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.05.
