Bloomsburg Beats Mansfield in Women's Swimming

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's swim team opened its 2003-04 campaign at home Saturday with a 109-74 win over conference foe Mansfield.
The Huskies opened the day with a victory in the 200-medley relay from the team of Laura Jeffers (Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley), Courtney Dean (Lancaster/Hempfield), Jenn Shank (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) and Ashley Yelinek (Youngwood/Southmoreland) who finished in a time of 1:58.24.
Other winners for the Huskies include Rebecca Kadingo (Orwigsburg/Nativity BVM) who finished first in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:24.63. Lindsay Wallace (Frenchville/Clearfield) won the 50 freestyle in a time of 26.15, while Kari Pokrzwya (Fairless Hills/Pennsbury) won the 200 medley in a time of 2:21.66. Lauren Sterkenberg (Lancaster/Hempfield) finished first in her first collegiate meet winning the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:17.50.
The Huskies will next be in action Sunday hosting the Bloomsburg Relays starting at 12 p.m.
