Bloomsburg Splits with Albright in Swimming

READING- The Bloomsburg University women's swim team defeated Albright College 109-96 but the men's swim team fell to Albright 105-98 on Friday night.
On the women's side, the Huskies swept the 500-yard freestyle. Ashley Yelinek (Youngwood/ Southmoreland) finished first, followed by Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/ Quakertown) and Barb Caccia (Laurel Springs, NJ/ Sterling). Yelinek also finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle. Other first place finishes included Dianna Smith (West Grove/ Avon Grove) in the 200-yard freestyle and Jessica Stusnick (Huntingdon Valley/ Hazleton Area) in the 200-yard butterfly. The 400-free relay team of Courtney Dean (Lancaster/ Hempfield), Allie Reed (Selinsgrove/ Selinsgrove), Jackie Gribbin (Richboro/ Council Rock North), and Smith also took first.
On the men's side, Steve Withers (Doylestown/ Central Bucks West) and Kyle Weisenbach (Woolrich/ Central Mountain) finished 1-2 in the 1000-yard freestyle to lead the Huskies. Brett Palmer (Marysville/ Susquenita) also took first in the 50-yard freestyle and Mark Freeman took first in the 200-yard backstroke.
With the win, the women improve to 3-0 on the year, while the men fall to 0-3. Both teams will race at the University of Akron Invitational on December 1st.
