Bloomsburg University Swim Teams Compete in Florida


RESULTS

DAYTONA, FL-- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams took part in the Port Orange Invitational on Wednesday in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The women's team took second place out of nine teams with 396.5 points, while the men were fifth among eight schools with 213 points.

For the women, Dianna Smith (West Grove/Avon Grove) took second in the 200 free in 2:02.21 and was third in the 100 free in 55.80 seconds. Also, Allie Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.92 and was fifth in the 200 breast in 2:37.92. Courtney Dean (Lancaster/Hempfield) was sixth in the 50 free in 26.36 seconds, while in the 200 backstroke, Sara Lengler (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) was third in 2:16.56. In the 500 free, Ashley Yelinek (Youngwood/Southermoreland) was fourth in 5:39.10 with Jackie Gribbin (Richboro/Council Rock North) fifth in 5:40.13. In the 200 IM, Ashley Carroll (Mohnton/Schuylkill Valley) was fifth in 2:24.05 with Kellie Ayres (Gilbertsville/Boyertown) fifth in the same event in 2:24.35.

In relay action, the Huskies took top honors in the 200 free relay with the team of Dean, Gribbin, Reed and Smith with a time of 1:43.40.

For the men, Joe Bentz (York/Suburban York) was fourth in the 200 fly in 2:09.12, while Bret Palmer (Marysville/Susquenita) was sixth in the 50 free in 23.64 seconds.
