Swimmers Split Action Against Kutztown

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams competed against Kutztown University on Saturday in Bloomsburg. The women's team picked up a 107-93 win, while the men's team lost 116-87.

For the women, Dianna Smith (West Grove /Avon Grove) placed first in both the 100 (54.88) and 200 (1:56.05) freestyle. Courtney Dean (Lancaster /Hempfield) placed first in the 50-free in a time of 25.95 and second in the 100-free in 56.90.

Barb Caccia (Laurel Springs, NJ Sterling) finished first in the 1000 free in 11:17.95, while Laura Jeffers (Spring /Perkiomen Valley) placed first in the 200 backstroke (2:18.82). Steph Boccuti (Doylestown /Central Bucks East) closed out the action placing first in the 200 butterfly.

For the men, Joe Bentz (York /York Suburban) placed first in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:03.49 and first in the 200-IM in 2:05.46. Mark Freeman (Bethlehem /Freedom) took first in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:08.69. David Mancinelli (Plymoth Meeting /Westmont Hilltop) had two second place finishes. Mancinelli took second in the 100 free (50.74) and second in the 50 freestyle (23.22).

The Huskies will next travel to East Stroudsburg on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. start time.
