Women's 200-Free Relay Team Earns All-PSAC Honor

MECHANICSBURG -- The Bloomsburg University women's swimming 200-free relay team took third on Friday to earn All-PSAC honors at the 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference swimming championships.

The team of Allie Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove), Jackie Gribbin (Richboro/Council Rock North), Courtney Dean (Lancaster/Hempfield) and Dianna Smith (West Grove/Avon Grove) swam to a finishing time of 1:38.18 and set a new school record in the process.

The men's 200-free relay team of Bret Palmer (Marysville/Susquenita), Mark Freeman (Bethlehem/Freedom), David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmont Hilltop) and Steve Withers (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) finished fifth in a time of 1:29.46.

Individually, in the 500-free Ashley Yelinek (Youngwood/Southmoreland) was 11th in 5:15.94, while in the 50-free Smith was 10th in 24.61 seconds. For the men, Steve Withers was 12th in the 500-free in 4:53.05.

Action will resume on Saturday at the Cumberland Valley High School Natatorium.
