King and Smith Lead Bloomsburg Swim Teams Sunday
Day Three Finals
AKRON, OH--The Bloomsburg University men and women's swim teams concluded action at the Akron Invitational on Sunday. The men's team finished 8th with 668.5 points, while the women were ninth with 344 points.
On the men's side, John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) was the top finisher of the day for Bloomsburg with a third place finish in the 1650 free in a time of 17:06.25. Also, Steve Withers (Chalfton/Central Bucks West) was eighth in the event in 17:25.16 with Dereck Fritz (Stevens/Ephrata) 10th in 17:46.45.
In the 200-fly, Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) took sixth in 1:58.96 with Mike Williams (Lower Moreland/Lower Moreland) 13th in the same event in 2:03.96, while Ben Safran was 14th in 2:03.42.
In the 200-breast, Anthony Sirico (Milford/Delaware Valley) was 15th in 2:21.85, while in the 100-free, David Manicelli (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop), was 16th in 48.46 seconds.
In the 400-free relay, Mancinelli, Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson), Tyler DeLorenzo (State College/State College), and Withers finished sixth in 3:13.76.
For the women, Dianna Smith (West Grove/Avon Grove) took third in the 100-free in a time of 52.62 seconds, while in the 1650-free, Sara Hippelli (Quakertown/Quakertown) was 15th in 18:15.94.
Bloomsburg is idle till January 3rd and the Port Orange, FL Invitational.
