Bloomsburg Swim Teams Split with Edinboro

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men and women's swim team competed against Edinboro University on Friday night with the men's team winning 105-100, while the women's team lost 117-88.

For the men side, it came down to the last event for the Huskies, the 400-yard relay. The team of Derek Straub (Sinking Springs /Wilson), Michael Bierds (West Chester/ West Chester East), David Mancinelli (Johnstown/ Westmont Hilltop) and Steve Withers (Chalfont/ Central Bucks West) placed first in a time of 3:24.02 for the win.

In the 200-butterfly Joe Bentz (York/ York Suburban) placed first in a time of 2:05.37 and Tyler Delorenzo (State College/ State College) placed first in the 200-back 2:03.44.

For the women, Dianna Smith place first in the 100-free in a time of 54.24 and came from behind to anchor the winning 400-yard free relay in a time of 3:45.75. Allie Reed (Selinsgrove /Selinsgrove), Jessica Gribbin (Richboro /Council Rock North), and Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/Quakertown) were also part of winning relay team.

The Huskies will compete against Ithaca Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
