Huskies Complete Day Three at PSAC Championships

MECHANICSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams completed day three of the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships on Saturday. The women are in sixth place, while the men are in seventh place overall.
In the women's 200-free event, Dianna Smith (West Grove/Avon Grove) finished second in a time of 1:53.80, while Allie Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) fourth in 1:55.04. In the 400-IM, Lisa Ferrigno (West Chester/Bishop Shanahan), was fifth in 4:45.54 with Emily Stiles eighth in 4:52.78.
In relay action, the 800-free relay team of Smith, Jessica Gribbin (Richboro/Council Rock North), Sara Hippeli (Quakertown/Quakertown) and Reed took second in a time of 7:50.71. In the 200-medley relay, Liz Tesoro (Doylestown/Central Bucks West), Danielle Wrecsics (Coopersburg/Palisades), Michelle Wesh (Pittsgrove, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy) and Amy Usciak (Lancaster/Hempfield) were eighth in 2:01.23.
For the men, Joe Bentz (York/York Suburban) finished sixth in the 400-IM in 4:22.41, while Derek Straub (Sinking Spring/Wilson) was seventh in the 100-backstrokre in 54.19. In the 100-breast, Tom Runscavage (Shavertown/Dallas) was 11th in 1:03.69, while in the 200-free, Steve Withers (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) was 12th in 1:47.10.
In the 200-medley relay, Straub, Runscavage, Juan Castaneda (Shamokin/Shamokin), and David Mancinelli (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) were seventh in 1:39.99. In the 800-free relay, the Huskies were fifth with the team of Withers, Mancinelli, Dereck Fritz (Stevens/Ephrata) and Straub.
Action will conclude on Sunday at the championships.
