Bartsch Named PSAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University women's tennis player Erin Bartsch (Warren/Warren) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year in voting by the conference coaches. Joining Bartsch as All-PSAC is Beth Fulton (Nesquehoning/Tamaqua) and Katie Kochera (Bethel/Tulpehocken) who were named to the second team.

Bartsch, named the women's tennis MVP earlier this spring, Bartsch put together a record of 21-4 on the season, while playing at number one singles. In the fall Bartsch earned a trip to the Intercollegiate Tennis Small College National Championships after winning the East Regional title. This spring, she earned PSAC Player of the Week honors after winning two matches in both singles and doubles at the Bloomsburg Invitational. In doubles play, Bartsch has teamed with Katie Kochera to post a record of 16-6 at number one doubles. Bartsch, a PSAC and Bloomsburg Scholar-Athlete, led the Huskies to a berth in the NCAA national championship where the Huskies dropped a 5-0 decision to third-seeded Barry Univerisity.

Fulton earned second team All-PSAC honors after being a first team selection a year ago. The junior posted a record of 12-9 in singles play and was 12-8 in doubles competition with several different playing partners. For her career, Fulton is 39-21 in singles and 30-17 in doubles.

Kochera earned second team All-PSAC honors for the second consecutive year. During the year Kochera was 9-9 for the Huskies with the majority of her matches coming at number two singles. In doubles, she was 17-6, with 16 of the wins coming at number one doubles with Bartsch. For her career, Bartsch is now 60-30 in singles and 74-32 in doubles play.

Bloomsburg finished the season with a record of 11-8.
