BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University women's tennis player Erin Bartsch (Warren/Warren) won the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) East Regional “A” draw singles Championship Monday in a match played on the Huskies' court.
Bartsch, the second seed, beat top-seeded Anna Burakova of Dowling College in set straights, 7-6 (5), 6-1. The win advances Bartsch to the ITA Small College National Championships in McKinney, TX October 18-21. The tournament will feature the regional champions from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and junior and community colleges battling it out to determine the top small college players in the country. The overall men's and women's champions will then advance to the Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, Nov. 8-11 in Farmer's Branch, TX.
In the “B” draw singles title match, Julie Bramante (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) won the title with a
6-2, 6-1 win over Kara Fisher of Slippery Rock.
