Huskies Sweep Queens in NCAA Regional Tennis

BLOOMSBURG, PA-The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team advanced to the finals of the NCAA East Regional championships with a 5-0 win over Queens College of New York Friday afternoon. The Huskies will play Slippery Rock for the right to advance to the NCAA Division II championship round.

Bloomsburg opened play with a sweep of all three doubles matches. The Huskies only lost one game in doubles play. Erin Bartsch and Katie Kochera had an 8-0 victory at first doubles to improve their record to 15-6. At third doubles, Julianne Bramante and Larassa Bench also posted an 8-0 victory improving to 9-5 on the year. Rounding out doubles play, Beth Fulton and Miranda Campbell won at number two, 8-1, to improve their record to 8-4.

Moving on to singles play, Bramante got a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number four before Fulton won her number three match 6-1, 6-0 to end the match.

Bloomsburg improves to 10-7 with the victory. The Huskies will play Slippery Rock at 11 a.m. Saturday.
