Bloomsburg Women's Tennis Advances in NCAA Tournament
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team advanced to the final 16 of the Division II NCAA tournament, after beating Millersville, 5-1, on Saturday morning in Bloomsburg.
The Huskies, 13-5, led the match 2-1 after doubles play and picked up three easy singles victories for the win. Julianne Bramante (Endwell, NY/Union-Endicott) picked up a singles win at the number three spot, edging her opponent, 6-3, 6-4. Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) had a 6-4, 6-3 decision at the number five slot, while Brande Hansteen (Wyncote/Cheltenham) followed up with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at number-six.
In doubles play, the team of Erin Bartsch (Warren/Warren) and Miranda Campbell (Cape May, NJ/Middle Township) earned an 8-5 victory at the number one spot. At number-two, the team of Bramante and Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/North Canton Hoover) rounded out the doubles play with an 8-2 victory.
With the win, the Huskies advance to the final sixteen of the NCAA Championships in Florida to face the winner of the Metropolitan State-Northern Colorado match, on May 8th.
