Bloomsburg Wins NCAA East Region Division II Women's Tennis Championship

BLOOMSBURG, PA— The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team captured the NCAA Division II East Regional championship with a 5-0 win over Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Saturday afternoon. The win advances the Huskies to the NCAA championship round in Altamonte Springs, FL May 12th-15th as part of the NCAA Division II Sports Festival.

The Huskies led 3-0 at the end of doubles. At number one, Bloomsburg's Iida Hokkanen and Emily Murphy teamed up to win 8-3; while Julianne Bramante and Lindsey Wyckoff were 8-5 winners at number two. The Huskies completed the sweep of doubles with an 8-4 win from Brande Hansteen and Lauren Colfer.

In singles play, Hokkanen was a winner at number one 6-3, 6-0, over Jessica Brockway of IUP, while at number four Murphy picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at number four to seal the win for the Huskies.

The win improves the Huskies season mark to 16-5 on the year, while IUP ends the year with a 13-5 record.
