Huskies Advance to Championship of NCAA Division II East Regional Women's Tennis Championships

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team advanced to the finals of the NCAA Division II East Regional with a 5-0 win over Queens College.

The Huskies swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead going into the singles competition. At number one doubles, the duo of Iida Hokkanen and Emily Murphy won 8-2 while Julianne Bramante and Lindsey Wyckoff were 8-1 winners playing at number two. At number three doubles, the team of Brande Hansteen and Lauren Colfer completed the sweep with a 8-2 win.

In singles, the Huskies won the first two completed matches to end the match at 5-0. Colfer stayed hot and won 6-0, 6-1 at number six singles while Murphy finished the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win at number four.

The Huskies move on to face Indiana (PA) in the championship match tomorrow at 12:30. The winner of that match advances to the round of 16. Indiana (PA) was a 5-2 winner in their match versus Bryant.
