Women's Tennis Falls to Bucknell in Final Regular Season Dual Match
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis closed out its regular season dual season with a 9-0 loss to Bucknell. With the loss, the Huskies drop to 12-5 on the season.
In doubles Julianne Bramante (Endwell, NY/Union-Endicott) and Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/Hoover) fought back from a 6-3 deficit, closing in on Bucknell before falling, 8-6. At third doubles, Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) and Brande Hansteen (Wyncote/Cheltenham) were defeated, 8-3, while Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) and Emily Murphy (Montgomery/Methacton) lost, 8-2.
In singles, Hansteen and Colfer put up strong fights at fifth and sixth singles. Hansteen fell, 6-2, 6-3, while Colfer lost a close first set, 7-5, before losing the second, 6-3.
The Huskies will travel to Shippensburg tomorrow to compete in the 2004 PSAC Championships where they will take on Indiana (PA) in the semifinals on Friday.
