Huskies Drop Bryant in Women's Tennis, 7-2

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team defeated Bryant College, 7-2, Saturday, improving its record to 7-4 on the season.

The Huskies picked up a win at number one singles with Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) beating Bryant's Sacha Solomon, 6-2, 6-1. Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/Hoover) picked up a win at number three, while Emily Murphy pulled out a tight three-setter at number four, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0. Brande Hansteen (Wyncote/Cheltenham) and Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) each picked up individual victories, each cruising to 6-1, 6-1 wins at numbers five and six, respectively.

In doubles action, Hokkanen teamed up with Emily Murphy (Montgomery/Methacton) for an 8-6 victory at number one, while the team of Hansteen/Colfer won, 8-0 at number three.

The Huskies will next be in action on Wednesday at 3 p.m. as they travel to face conference rival Kutztown.
