Huskies Shut Out East Stroudsburg in Women's Tennis
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team defeated East Stroudsburg on Thursday, 9-0 to wrap up Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play for the regular season. The Huskies improve their record to 9-4, 5-0 in the PSAC.
The Huskies jumped out to a 3-0 lead, sweeping the doubles positions. At first doubles Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) and Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/Hoover) defeated ESU, 8-2, while at second doubles Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) and Julianne Bramante (Endwell, NY/Union-Endicott) won, 8-3. At third doubles, Brande Hansteen (Wyncote/Cheltenham) and Jaclyn Kelly (Havertown/ Haverford) dominated their opponents, winning 8-1.
In singles action, Bramante cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at the second slot, while Colfer dominated her opponent at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-0. At third singles, Wyckoff won, 6-1, 6-1, while at first singles, Hokkanen got a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Rounding out the singles wins were Hansteen, at four, 7-5, 6-3, and Kelly at sixth, 6-4, 6-4.
The Huskies will be back in action against Georgian Court and NJIT on Saturday, April 17 in two home dual matches.
