Huskies Fall to Belmont University in Women's Tennis

HILTON HEAD, SC.—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team fell to Belmont University (TN) on Tuesday, 6-1.

Julianne Bramante (Endwell, NY/Union-Endicott) got the lone win for the Huskies in the loss, winning 8-5 in a pro-set over Belmont. Because of time constraints, the teams played eight-game pro sets at the number one and two positions.

At first singles, Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) fought back from 2-7 to 6-7, but fell to Belmont, 8-6. At six singles, Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) turned in a strong match, taking her opponent to a third-set super tiebreaker. Colfer won the first set 6-3 before losing then next two, 6-3, 10-0.

In doubles, Hokkanen and Emily Murphy (Montgomery/Methacton) fell 8-5, while at second doubles Bramante and Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/Hoover) were defeated, 8-2. At third doubles, Colfer and Brande Hansteen (Wyncote/ Cheltenham) lost, 8-4.
