Huskies Qualify for NCAA Tennis East Regionals

Complete Bracket

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team has qualified for the 2007 NCAA Division II East Championships. The Huskies, who will be making their 12th straight trip to the NCAA Championships under head coach Marty Coyne, will also host the first and second rounds of the East Regionals on May 3-4.

Bloomsburg received a bid after going 17-3 and finishing as runner-up to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champion California (PA). The Huskies will take on Millersville in their first round match and, if they advance, will play the winner of Slippery Rock and Bentley. The winner of the region will advance to the NCAA Final 16 to be held May 9-12 in Altamonte Springs, Florida with the Central Florida Commision and Rollins College serving as co-hosts.

The championships consist of a 16-team single elimination tournament. Each of the following eight regions will conduct two first-and second-round tournaments: East, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, South, Great Lakes, Central, North Central and West.

Last season, the Huskies defeated Queens College (NY) to advance to the NCAA final 16 before losing to Tarleton State (TX) in the round of 16.
