2008 PSAC Women's Tennis Championships
BLOOMSBURG-- California (PA) University will face Slippery Rock University on Saturday for the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's tennis championship at Bloomsburg University starting at 9 a.m. The Vulcans advanced to the finals with a 7-0 win over Kutztown, while Slippery Rock defeated Bloomsburg by a 5-1 score.
In the Cal match, the Vulcans, the defending PSAC championships, rolled past the Golden Bears by sweeping all three doubles matches and losing just three games along the way. In singles play Cal was just as dominant dropping just five games in the four matches it won.
Slippery Rock had a tougher time advancing against the host team. The Rock led 2-1 after doubles and picked up wins at number one, three and four singles to earn the win. Bloomsburg was leading in the other three matches when the match was called.
Cal and Slippery Rock will play at 9 a.m. with Kutztown facing Bloomsburg in the consolation match at the same time.
