BU Women's Tennis Advances at NCAA Regionals

wILLIAMSPORT--The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team won its first round NCAA regional match on Thursday with 5-3 win over Queens College of New York.

The Huskies led 2-1 coming out of doubles with the team of Torie Cunningham (Greentown, NY/Harbor Fields) and Alison Carney (Warrior Run/Muncy) winning at first doubles and Andrea Malatesta (Berwick/Berwick) and Laura Sullivan (Dingman's Ferry/Delaware Valley) winning at three.

In singles play Katie Hasyn (Lansdale /North Penn), Carney and Malatesta all winners to propel Bloomsburg to the win. Malatesta won in straight sets, but needed to win a tie-breaker in the first set.

The Huskies will play a second round match on Friday at California (PA) for the right to advance to to the NCAA championship round next week in Houston, TX.
