Kramer Finishes 14th at NCAA Track Championships

ANGELO, TX--Bloomsburg University freshman runner Danielle Kramer (Shamokin/Shamokin) finished 14th in the 10,000 meter finals at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships. The Division II championships are being held at Angelo State University, San Angelo, TX.

Kramer, a freshman, was seeded 8th going into the event, but finished 14th in 39:53 on a hot and humid night in Texas.

Bloomsburg coach Karen Brandt praised her runner despite the 14th place finish.

"Danielle gave it her all in the race," said Brandt. "It was just a hot and bery humid night and I think she learned a lot about how to race in those conditions. I know she wants to make it back here (NCAA's) next year so she can use what she learned Thursday night."

In her first season at Bloomsburg, Kramer took part in nine regular season indoor and outdoor meets and has 8 wins and 1 second in distances ranging from 1500 to 10,000.  At the prestigious Penn Relays in late April, Kramer ran the 10, 000 meter race in a personal-best time of 36:04, the second fastest time in Division II this season. At the Susquehanna Invitational Kramer set a stadium record at 10,000 meters by winning in a time of 36:49, then set a new meet record at 5,000 meters (17:49) at the Christopher Newport Invitational.

At the PSAC championships two weeks ago, Kramer finished second at 5,000 meters in a time of 17:39, new personal record.  Four times during the season Kramer was also named to the PSAC Honor Roll, while qualifying for the PSAC championships in four events (1500, 3000, 5000 and 10,000).
