Huskies Open Cross Country Season

KUTZTOWN—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2000 season at the Kutztown Invitational Saturday. The women finished fifth of nine teams with 41 points while the men seventh of nine teams with 57 points. Moravian won the women's division with 34 points, while Shippensburg captured the men's division with 16 points.

In the women's race, Jennifer McNeal (Monroeton/Towanda HS) was the Huskies' top finisher in seventh place in a time of 24:32. Kim Gasper (Hazleton/Bishop Hafey) was 17th overall in a time of 25:20, while Julie Bloom (Lafayette, NY/Tully) was third for the Huskies and 25th overall in 25:59.

For the men, Chris Turner (Lawrenceville/Williamson) was 29th overall in 29:10, while Matt Zappile (Augusta, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was 39th in 29:45. Third for the Huskies and 45th overall was Eric Wolfgang (York/York Central) in a time of 30:05.

The Huskies are back in action next week at the Lafaytte College Invitational.
