Huskies Race in Lafayette Invitational

EASTON—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Lafayette College Invitational Saturday in Easton. The women finished sixth of 11 teams with 164 points while the men were eighth of nine teams with 191 points. Moravian College won the women's division with 40 points with Seton Hall winning the men's division with 47 points.

In the women's race, Jennifer McNeal (Monroeton/Towanda HS) was the Huskies' top finisher in 17th place in 22:41. Kim Gasper (Hazleton/Bishop Hafey) was 30h overall in 23:27, while Julie Bloom (Lafayette, NY/Tully) was third for the Huskies and 32nd overall in 23:31. Rachel Keller was fourth for Bloomsburg and 40th overall in 24:02.

For the men, Matt Zappile (Augusta, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was 38th overall in 28:43, while Curtis Woodward (Monroeton/Towanda) was second for the Huskies and 40th overall in 28:46. Chris Turner (Lawrenceville/Williamson) was 48th overall in 29:13 with Dan Mest (Alburtis/Emmaus) 63rd in 29:54.

The Huskies are back in action next week at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational.
