LOCK HAVEN—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country team participated today in the NCAA Regionals held at Lock Haven. The women's team came in eighth place with 225 points. The women's title was won by Edinboro with 30 points. The Bloomsburg men's team finished in 14th place with 348 points. The men's championship was also won by Edinboro with 28 points.
The top female runner for the huskies was Jen McNeal (Monroeton/Towanda) who finished in 21st place with a time of 22:54.39. Second for Bloomsburg was Julie Bloom (Lafayette, NY/Tully) who finished 37th in 23:27.78, while Kim Kasper (Hazleton/Bishop Hafey) finished 45th with a time of 23:46.62.
The winner of the female race was Carrie Mckeon of Edinboro who won with a time of 21:39.86.
For the men, Matt Zappile (Augusta, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was the top runner. He finished with a time of 33:38.11, which was good enough for 48th place. Curtis Woodard (Monroeton/Towanda) was second for the Huskies and 55st overall with a time of 33:56.73.
Chris Turner (Lawrenceville/Williamson) came in third for the Bloomsburg and 63rd overall with a time of 34:16.50.
The winner of the male race was Jeff Barker of Edinboro with a time of 30:16.09.
