KUTZTOWN— The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country team competed in the Maroon & Gold Cross Country Invitational at Kutztown University on Saturday, September 1st. The men's team placed sixth out of ten teams. The women's team also placed sixth out of a field of nine. Millersville won the men's competition, while Moravian won the women's race.
Freshman Justin Dosch (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) led the Huskies' men. He finished 32nd overall with a time of 28:19. Sophomore Chris Turner (Lawrenceville, PA/Williamson) placed 38th overall with a time of 28:50. Other finishers included Brandon Palmer (Carlisle, PA/Big Spring), Jered Knutelsky (Shippensburg, PA/Shippensburg Area), Eric Wolfgang (York, PA/Central York), Mike Kaminsky (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro Area), and Dan Mest (Alburtus, PA/Emmaus).
On the women's side, Bloomsburg was paced by senior Kim Gasper (Hazleton, PA/Bishop Hafey) who finished 15th overall in 24:56. Senior Julie Bloom (Lafayette, NY/Tully Central) finished 26th overall with a time of 25:46. She was followed closely by freshman Autumn Simmons (Northumberland, PA/Shikellamy) who finished in 25:52. Other finishers included Jennie Roberts (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia), Jessica Lightcap (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown Senior), Lisa Stefursky (Archbald, PA/Valley View), and Stacy Heberling (Prompton, PA/Honesdale).
The Huskies will host the Bloomsburg Invitational next Saturday at 10 a.m.
