Bloomsburg Runners Fair Well at NCAA Regional Championships

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country teams finished

13th and 12th at the NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships held at Slippery Rock University. The men's team finished with 301 points while the women's team had 308 points.

For the women, Kim Gasper (Hazleton/Bishop Hafey) was the top finisher in 33rd place in a time of 25:10 over the 6,000-meter course. Stacy Heberling (Prompton/Honesdale) was 36th in 25:16, while Jessica Lightcap (Pottstown/Pottstown) was 69th in 26:24. Jennie Roberts (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) came home in 81st place in 26:53, while Carrie-Ann Hiltebeitel (Honey Brook/Twin Valley) was 89th in 27:14. Rounding out the runners for Bloomsburg were Gabrielle Seiger (Trexlertown/Parkland) in 93rd place in 27:30 and Autumn Simmons (Northumberland/Shikellamy) in 103rd in 28:05.

For the men, sophomore Chris Turner (Lawrenceville/Williamson) was the top finisher for Bloomsburg in 19th place in 35:15 for the 10,000-meter course. It was the best finish for a Bloomsburg men's cross country runner since Chris Moscatello's 18th place finish in 1997. Freshman Justin Dosch (Sunbury/Shikellamy) was 47th in 36:33, while Dan Mest (Alburtis/Emmaus) was 64th in 37:10. Jered Knutelsky (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) was 85th in 37:48 and Brandon Palmer (Carlisle/Big Spring) just behind in 86th place with a time of 37:53. Rounding out the runners for Bloomsburg were Eric Wolfgang (York/Central York) in 96th in 38:11 and Kyle Scanlan (Macungie/Emmaus) 110th in 39:26.
