Women's Cross Country Earns All-Academic Awards

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's cross country team, as well as two of its members, earned All-Academic honors from the NCAA Division II Cross Country Coaches Association. Amanda Pisano (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) and Lisa Stefursky (Archbald/Valley View) both earned the individual award, while the team as a whole was honored for their hard work in the classroom.

To qualify for an All-Academic award, the team must have a cumulative grade point average through the semester of competition of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and each team must have a minimum of five runners who competed in at least 50 percent of the cross country competitions.

Pisano, a freshman majoring in education of the deaf/hard of hearing, had a 3.31 cumulative grade point average. In competition, Pisano's best finish was during the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships where she came in 13th place in a time of 24:17. Her effort earned herself All-PSAC honors and helped the Huskies to a fifth place team finish, their best since 1997. She also finished 16th at the NCAA East Regional with a time of 24:55.

Stefursky, a junior business administration-finance major, recorded a 3.48 cumulative grade point average to earn All-Academic honors. Her best finish in a race came at the Bloomsburg Invitational where she finished in 10th place with a time of 27:02 to help the Huskies to a team victory.

The women runners had a team cumulative grade point average of 3.07 to garner team All-Academic honors.
