Bloomsburg Women Win BU Cross Country Invitational; Men Take Second

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country hosted the Bloomsburg Invitational on Saturday with the women's team taking top honor and the men's team finishing second.

Overall for the women, Bloomsburg sophomore sensation Danielle Kramer (Shamokin/Shamokin) took home first place in a time of 23:19. She edged out Amy Bower of College Misericordia by eight seconds for the win. Taking third place was Amanda Pisano (Smithtown, NY/ Smithtown) who posted a time of 23:34 while Mary Bacher (New Tripoli /Allentown Central Catholic) took fifth place in a time of 24:29. Freshmen Terri Sutherland (Dauphin/ Central Dauphin East) and Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) also ran well posting times of 25:18 and 25:30.

The Huskies finished first with a team total of 27 points, while Millersville was second with 81 points.

Overall for the men, Millersville's Stephen Pizzuli took first place in a time of 26:39. Three of his teammates followed him across the line giving the Marauders a sweep of the first four spots. Jeremy Houseman was second in 27:00, while Matt Houseman was third in 27:01 with Jeffrey Rood fourth in 27:03.

For the Huskies, freshman Justin Shepherd (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) led the way placing fifth in a time of 27:09. Senior Curtis Woodard (Sayre/Towanda) finished seventh in a time of 27:39 while Eric Wolfgang (York/Central York) finished tenth in a time of 27:49. Finishing in 13th place overall and fourth for the Huskies was Chip Carnes (Linden/Williamsport) in a time of 27:58, while Justin Dosch (Sunbury/Shikellamy) was fifth for Bloomsburg and 15th overall in a time of 28:08.

Millersville won the team competition with 16 points, while the Huskies were second with 49 points.
