Bloomsburg Cross Country Teams Race at Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN —The Bloomsburg University women's cross country team took second place on Saturday at the Lock Haven University Invitational, while the men's team was fourth place.

The women's team, with 71 points, was the top finishing Division II team at the tournament finishing behind Penn State and ahead of Division One West Virginia.

Leading the way for the women was Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) with a second place finish in a time of 22:10, while freshman Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) was 12th in 22:45. Taking 17th place overall and third for the Huskies was Mary Bacher (New Tripoli/Allentown Central Catholic), while freshman Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) was 22nd overall in 23:19. The Huskies fifth finisher was another freshman, Becky Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin), who was 26th in 23:37.

The men's team was fourth on the day with 105 points. Leading the Huskies over the 10,000 meter course was Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp/Seneca Valley) was fourth in 32:14, while Bill Shephardson (McMurray/Peters Township) finished 25th in 33:37.

Also, Tim Marco (Lansdale/Lansdale Catholic) was 39th in a time of 34:17, while Anthony Skiles (West Reading/Wyomissing) was 43rd in 34:27 with teammate Michael Espinosa (Media/Penncrest) right behind in 44th in 34:29.

The Huskies are back in action next Saturday at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational.
