Bloomsburg Cross Country Competes in Slippery Rock Invitational

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Slippery Rock Invitational on Saturday morning. In the women’s 6k race, Amber Hackenberg (Middleberg/ Middleberg) finished third in a field of 103 runners with a time of 23:25 to lead the Huskies to a second place finish. Indiana (PA) finished first in the women’s event. The Huskies had three other runners finish in the top 15. Freshman Ashley Schuck (Milton/ Milton) finished in sixth with a time of 23:38, Mary Bacher (New Tripoli/ Allentown Central Catholic) finished 12th with a time of 23:59 and Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/ Warrior Run) finished 13th with a time of 24:07.

In the men’s 8k race, junior Justin Shepard (Cranberry Twp/ Seneca Valley) finished third in a field of 112 with a time of 25:48 to lead the men’s team to a fourth place finish. Shippensburg finished first, followed by Indiana and Slippery Rock. Junior Daniel Ezzi (Mechanicsburg/ Trinity) also ran well, finishing 11th for the Huskies with a time of 27:05.

The Huskies next meet will be at the Penn State Invitational on Saturday, October 15 at 10 a.m.
