Brandt Named PSAC Coach of the Year

BLOOMSBURG -- Bloomsburg University cross country coach Karen Brandt has been named the 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's cross country Coach of the Year. The honor is the first in Brandt's nine years as head coach at Bloomsburg.

Brandt, the 2007 United States Track, Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Coach of the Year, led her squad to a pair of first's this season. The Huskies captured its first PSAC Championship and its first NCAA East Regional title in school history.

With that win, Bloomsburg earned its first trip as a team to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in which the Huskies finished 15th out of 24 teams. Her lead runner, Amber Hackenberg (Middleberg/Middleberg), also earned All-American honors, marking the first time a Bloomsburg runner women's earned that award.
